October 10th, 2017 is World Mental Health Day

Here at Lil Helper, mental health is a subject we hold close to our hearts. A few of our team members have struggled with Postpartum Depression or Anxiety and we have had many conversations with customers (AKA Lil Helper family members) who struggle with their mental health.

The World Health Organisation estimates that “worldwide about 10% of pregnant women and 13% of women who have just given birth experience a mental disorder, primarily depression”. If you went to prenatal classes, are part of a Mom group, etc… Chances are that 1 in 10 of those Mothers experienced a postpartum mental disorder. To make matters worse, many mothers all over the world feel pressure to “get back to normal” while dealing with their mental disorders. Many struggle in silence.

Today, we ask that you simply check in. Check in with yourself, your friends and family, check in with any new parents you know and even parents of older children. A simple, “Hey, how are you?” might make the world of a difference to someone who is suffering.

How Do I Wash Cloth Diapers after a Yeast/Thrush Infection?

How do I wash cloth diapers after a yeast infection? yeast infection cloth diapers

A popular question for any user of cloth diapers, not just for Lil Helper is: How do you clean cloth diapers which have come into contact with thrush or more commonly known as yeast infection?

However you say it, candidiasis spells bad news for cloth diapers and, of course, the baby who wears them.

A customer shared a post from this satiric site with me yesterday on our Lil Helper FB group. It caught her eye because it sure looked like a ‪Lil Helper cloth diaper to her (and a few others agreed) and hey, guess what? When I looked at the image and checked the filename, it WAS a photo of one of our dipes, likely taken from our site who-knows-when (we don’t sell this particular diaper any more but we do sell a whole bunch of other lovely things that are NOT $750).

Our only sorrow is that our diapers DO NOT really have emu thread in them …. any more.

I fought for it, really, I did.

And the feathers in the inserts? Not goose. Flamingo. Anyone who’s anyone knows flamingo down is the go-to for cloth dipes.

Thanks for the laugh, GunkLife.
