Cluster Feeding Survival Tips

Hey all! My name is Jessica. I am very lucky to have a chunky 5-month-old boob monster who inspired this post (she’s awesome) and a fantastic husband who indulges my LilHelper obsession!

Cluster feeding, otherwise known as don’t-plan-anything-because-you-won’t-get-off-the-couch time. Cluster feeding is when babies space feedings closer. This is normal and can be experienced day or night. If you have twins, it is often referred to as bed camping and you will soon learn why.

It’s Mother’s Day Already?

is it mothers day already? blog header from lilhelper.ca blog - photo of a mom hugging her toddler who is standing, wearing an orange lil helper cloth diaperI can’t believe how much more quickly time passes as a parent. It’s crazy that Mother’s Day is less than a week away!

I swear it was just yesterday my oldest was born but she’s almost eight, so I know my perception of time is warped. Days blur together in the best way where I can only remember all the sweet moments. The moments where my girls will come up to me out of the blue and tell me they love me. Conveniently, I don’t remember the time that they flooded their bedroom with soap and water when I asked them to clean it. Oh wait, I do remember, but I look back on it and laugh.

There are some days where I am so eager for bedtime. Days that I’m fixated on the clock to see if I can finally get a break. Parenting is HARD!

Lil Helper Customer Service: For the Moments You Feel Faint

Lil Helper Customer Service - For the times you feel faint blog header. Image shows a pug wrapped in a blanket looking sad

I see you.

You are pacing back and forth singing lullaby’s, using every last bit of energy you have within to stay awake, so you can get your tiny angel to sleep.

I see you.

Rushing to get the last bit of housework done before nap is over. You won’t have time otherwise; between taking care of the baby and work.

I see you.

You are changing outfits for the fourth time today because some type of bodily fluid has once again made its way onto you.

I see you struggling to find balance in your life and wondering if things will ever get any easier.

And I am here to tell you that it does, but even if it takes a while, you are not alone. We have all been there and want to help you get through these hard days. I know that parenthood can feel so isolating.

Even though you have this brand new person to spend all of your time with, you can feel all alone in the world. That’s one part that doesn’t get talked about much.

Most conversations about new babies revolve around just that, your new pride and joy. And while this is to be expected, you have to remember that you are still a person with needs and wants and you matter too.

So I am asking you, begging you actually, to give yourself grace.

Don’t beat yourself up if the dishes go undone until the next day… or two.

Never feel guilty for ordering takeout again because you just don’t have the energy to cook or do the necessary cleanup afterward.

Don’t be embarrassed that you have a clean pile of laundry that never gets put away because you just don’t have the time.

And please, please don’t give up on your hopes of cloth diapering because you just can’t see it happening at this very moment. Even if everyone around you thinks cloth diapering is insane, you made a choice to do what is best for your baby and you are not a failure for not starting from day one. In fact, we suggest not to start right away so that you can adjust to having this precious new life in your arms.

I know that it may seem all too much right now but I promise that it gets easier.

Just because you can’t see yourself starting to use them in the next few weeks doesn’t mean that you won’t feel ready in another two months.

I don’t want you to rush into it, that certainly isn’t my heart for you. But I just don’t want you to lose track of why you considered using cloth diapers in the first place.

As the days pass by, balance will come.

And when you are ready, your cloth diapers will be there.

No need to feel defeated for not using them right away, they are inanimate objects so they can’t cast any judgment. The only judgment that matters is your own and your child’s, and let me tell you something, your little one sees you as you truly are – AMAZING.Lil Helper Customer Service reminding you that you are amazing - a gif showing a scence from the movie Moana with Maui whispering "You're so amazing!" into Moana's ear.

Everything you do every day to make sure your little one is taken care of makes you the best parent.

Even if you don’t always see yourself that way, your child sees it. You are their comfort. Their provider, protector, all-encompassing love. You are their all.

And you are ENOUGH.

I want you to remember this.

You are making the best possible choices you can for your baby, not only for now but for their future. And that is no small feat. You are doing incredible things, even if they don’t feel like it in the moment. You are a superhero who is raising the superheroes of tomorrow.

And you are not alone. We are here to help you along on your journey. We are the Lil Helper Customer Service team. From washing guidance to fitting tips, we can help you troubleshoot. We want to make your cloth diapering experience as stress-free as possible.
